A banner is a piece of art or text in an artistic style that represents you or your squad or some aspect you would like to express when posting. It is attached to your forum profile and added to each post you make. If you change your banner it changes for all posts past, and in the future.

You have a banner artist create one for you or you make one yourself. If you are in a squad often they have artists who will create banners for you. There are also banner factories that allow anyone to request a banner.

Really you can have any size but the forum only shows just over 700 - 720 pixels in width depending on the device and browser used. Anything wider your banner will be cropped on the right edge. As for height you can make it as big as you wish. I generally make mine 230-260 pixels tall but they range from 20 - 2000 so it's up to you. I keep mine smaller so scrolling is reasonable.

Well you can use any graphic software you like, the gold standard is Photoshop, but great banners have been made with all kinds of software like Gimp, PicsArt, and many more. There are also banner creation websites that have pre-made templates for making banners like bannersnack.com and others just search and you will find a number offering free banner creation.

You can use any JPEG, GIF, or PNG format picture for you banner and to add it:

In the forum first click on the Profile tab.

Now click edit

Click the Profile Information tab

Scroll to the bottom and in the signature box type as shown below.


!!!IMPORTANT!!!

Look at the img codes and make sure you use square brackets [] and the img at the end has a slash

Where it says "the.address.of.your.banner" change that to your actual address of the banner.

Where it says "-slogan optional" type anything you want to have at the bottom of your posts. You can have nothing or your name or a slogan...anything you like.

I included the code to center the banner also if you like. If you don't want it centered don't use the center tags

Click save


You should now have your banner on all posts!

Animated banners are animated GIF files which is basically a series of pictures shown one after each other. You can have different timing for each picture and have the whole set loop forever, or just once, there are a few different things you can do to make special effects. You can also take frames from a movie and create an animated banner like that. There are many good tutorials on the web to show you how. There are also many animated graphic creation websites and software available for free.

*Important* to make it pleasant for forum readers try and keep your file sizes down. I aim for 1-2 MB file size and about 70 frames. Some are more some are less but the file size gets up there quick so be careful.

Best plan is to join a free photo sharing site like photobucket.com then you upload it and just copy the sharing link they provide for that pic and follow "how to attach your banner" Answer 5 on this FAQ.
