My steam driven windows based game will still lock the controls now and again when I click in the box to chat. Until I hit the enter button nothing else works. Actually, thinking about it the controls will lock when I accidently press whatever key opens the chat box. I don't even know what key that is. Anyway the only way to get the controls back is to click in the chat box and hit enter. The keyboard controls come back after that.
