I have seen it too many times when your going head on with somebody and they r so far away, they r only one pixel on my screen. they fire and nail me when in reality they r about 2 miles away. I think ballistic drop will force people to get close to their targets before fireing just like they ACTUALLY had to in reality.
Plus, to you with it would also be a good idea to put a rudder slider on the screen so people chould yaw their planes?
Tell me what u guys think this is a democracy-ish.
Will this be too hard to impliment too, zuper?

I know exactly what you mean corsair. Though I tend to really rack up some kills at long range (takes a steady hand!), it'd be nice to see some drop and BDC's added to the sites. Here's what a standard BDC (Ballistic Drop Compensator) looks like:



And here's how it'd be used. In this case on a rifle. As you can see, you'd have to judge how far your target is and aim accordingly.



It wouldn't be too hard to incorporate. They had these in WWI, often times pilots would use grease pen's and mark accordingly on the glass sites already attached to the plane to really gauge the drop. I wouldn't mind making a new GUI for the sites if Zuperman ever throws this in.

Heh, speaking of BDC reticles; I have made some of my really long range hits (coyote hunting) thanks to a BDC scope.

I love the idea! Btw, im sorry to revive this old dead thread lol :) . Itd be really cool to have to aim more realisticaly.

On a related topic, can anyone give me some advice on aiming with a tank? I know that there are lines in 1st person that I assume were mean for aim, but I cant figure out how to use them effectively. Any advice? Thanks! B) B)

I love the idea :) , but....

It would change the game totally, - and very much so for the tanks.

I'm not sure Slenderman is right that it would be easy to implement, - it would possibly double the numbers of calculations that had to be updated continuously. I guess that's why Z has decided against giving bullets and shells ballistic trajectories.

Personally I think it would be fun to have some sort of ballistics incorporated in the game, - but it would make it MUCH more difficult to play :S .

It's a bit more complicated than it seems at first sight:

If you shoot horizontally, the bullets wil drop ballistically like Slender says.

If you fire straight up or straight down, there is no ballistic drop.

If you fly downwards in a 45 degrees dive, the ballistic drop will be halved.

Tracer bullets was what made it possible to hit anyone when you were not up close. One bullet out of ten had a core of white phosphorus that ignited and made you see the stream of bullets so that you could aim more or less like you would with a garden hose.

Its not a bad idea...but if we want to get realistic...the brithish were not allowed to have parashoots, planes would tear appart doing the maneuvers we do, machine guns were inherently inaccurate back then, especially flying, and top speed of most planes barely made 100mph. Not telling most of you anything new....but I think its kinda fun to shoot some down from 2 miles away. Besides, you can see the bullets comming, just fly over a hundred feet and don't engage until they get closer, its what I do when I encounter someone with crazy aiming skills. B)

Avoiding a fight doesn't help you get better :) . Gotta engage! Fighting the best is how you become the best.

While the game isn't meant to be ultra realistic, I think some realism would be needed, just to obey the laws of physics. Think about it. If bullets curved when you shot straight down, that'd require some sort of secondary propulsion deployed AFTER the bullet was fired. Not something you see very often. Z, if you implement this, please make it obey basic laws of the universe. :) Thanks!! B) B) B) B)

LOL, thanks Calvin, but on my 4 in. phone, when I move 1 tick up and down, it is sometimes above and below the plane I am aiming at 2 miles away. Just sayin', I can be down before I even see a hint of the the other plane, but I have taken them out by aiming at the right spot below the name...not sayin' it can't be done, just very difficult on my phone.

Second, adding realness to games is cool, and this is where I think feedback from a lot of players is valuable, because too much realism will make the game nearly impossible to play, or just boring. So I was just giving my point of view, I like it the way it is. And like I said, following reality, planes should be slowed way down, and the manuvuers we do should be impossible, but the planes are allowed to do these things to make the game fun. So my vote is for the way it is, I like it, but I suppose if enough of you would rather have bullets that follow gravity, then so be it. Happy flyin' all.

maybe youre right. it seems cool, but it'd make all the players learn to aim all over again. say... I like this idea! i'd have a chance to be better than wat up! haha, jk wat up. i highly doubt that that will ever happen. :) :whistle: :S :P

I wouldn't say there is a right and a wrong, even though this is not a democracy, if Z hears from enough people for a certain change in the game, then maybe he will change it. So I say, if what you would like is ballistic drop, then say so, just like you did. I was just expressing my opinion. (mostly because then I would really be a terrible player if I had to deal with that too...lol) :woohoo:

In the game, some players at times communicate in Spanish or German to be able to make plans that the others don't understand.

I think it is a good thing, really. It adds a bit of colour, and it shows that the game already has a sort of built in secret communications channel.
