Hi all, first post, so please be kind, if already mentioned, or wrong thread

Ive recently joined, and spend too much time flying, yet only today had some vulgar chat in play, that was totally uncalled for and immature
Is there a way of reporting or even blocking these individuals from playing?

If i have to watch vulgar comments come up in the chat box, perhaps the game is not for me, as i am a 60 yr old adult

regards

steve

Hi Steve,

I saw the same thing and we may have been in the same game. Zup has provided a way to report--hit player menu, hit players name and it will have provide a link to report the chat. I know two of the players were being very vulgar. I imagine they will be muted or kicked.

I've played this game for a long time and it rarely happens. The one member I think was trying to make a respected squad look bad. You get silliness like that from kids on here and sometimes from adults which is mindboggling.

Hope you stick around and hope to see you in a game!

Yes there have been some young kis with a lot of M-f swearing ... not well intended … more like just be heard.
Not real common in this game - give it a chance.

Friendly chatter and greetings from all over the world is part of the appeal of this game.
Unfortunately that does give the occasional moron a chance to abuse it.
Zup has to find a delicate balance as to how much communication is ok.
Fortunately most of us are fairly mature.
Stay, we need you young 60 year olds to keep us on our toes.;)

Some of the best players are seasoned (older if you want to call it). Some run squads or others fly solo. They give tips on how to win and even better how to lose with dignity and not act up and get banned, muted or shamed. There are some great new younger folks that are great to play with or against.

It's a great game. Stick around and join in fun!

Salute and welcome to the dogfight elite skies; so sorry to hear about the unfriendly welcome from a few players. Its sad but it does happen but the game administrator (zuperman) has implemented in game and chat reports. Click on the players menu during the game and you will get a report option; this will send an auto report with what has been typed during that game directly to zuperman. Other option and the best one is to click on the players name that insulted you and select block; and you will never see again what this player is saying or typing. Hope you do decide to stay and enjoy the game as you can see there are still friendly players here. Enjoy the game and have fun!

I agree with direwolf, a lot of great players are ‘seasoned’ ( according to dire) and they do teach a lot of good stuff. And regarding blocking and reporting of inappropriate language, I think we should add teamkilling to the list. I have seen a lot of teammates trying to murder me intentionally even tho I didn’t do a thing ( not just in DFE, but in other Multiplayer combat flight sims ), and then give a reason like “I felt like doing it”. I have warned them a lot and for now it seems like they are not teamkilling( in DFE atleast), but ya never know when they could. ( exceptions are given if they didn’t want to kill me cuz I went into their line of fire )

Many of us give tips in game--bullet drop, how to land on carrier etc. Teamkilling used to be called out but it's too common today. Some of it might be lag, but I have heard some squads fire from behind to hope to have a squad member on other team gain pts and increase their Squad Rank. That's just stupid. I have been one of many that have asked for an end to squad wars. Just play and support your team. No need to come in guns blazing and never actually try to support team even if they are not in your squad. I'll continue to help new folks when I can as it's the right thing to do.

See ya in the skies!

A lot of times when you are surrounded by enemies you will open fire and hope you hit the enemy and not a teammate. This happens to me a lot and I really hate losing 150pts for friendly fire and calling me the ‘traitor’. If the game calls me a traitor I don’t care but for other players, especially newer players, it does lower your morale a considerable amount. Note- I am just guessing about the morale part as I don't have any proof of that. Maybe zup could tone it down a bit, idk

And as always, I want YOUR OPINION on this.

You will learn to avoid hitting friendlies with practice, but I will say that happens to me. I think its a good deterrent as the old game wouldn't penalize a player for shooting his team mates.

Heck, there was even a player who would deliberately shoot his team mates a few times to soften them up so a squad mate of his on the other team could take them down easier and get squad wars points. Sounds pretty crazy, but it happened.

I usualy saw noob players teamkilling their team mates. I never seen players teamkill to hope have new squad members for points (maybe it happened in noobs squads). Well squad rank is like personal rank. its make the game not getting boring. I could say 5 or 6 players was against squad wars.and 5 or 6 of these players play few hours some of them was farm points on the early night to up personal rank of a way easy.

On The attachements a pic, of a match that i was, well Mean and me was there im sure you will soon kill reds like us , look how reds helps their folks lol

I agree with Viper, you get used to flying and not hitting team mates. Our squad is used to how we fly together so we can know what the other player is doing or anticipate the next move. I've flown with Viper for years--he trained me! :) After all those years in a squad we have an idea of the next move a team mate will make and follow to assist. In large games it can be difficult to sort out red vs. blue. Drop down or move to side to try and get a better view of the red.

Morale seems pretty good to me. Sometimes just a friendly 'hi' to all works and I've asked if folks have questions in games---I know many top players who will help and answer questions. Not all, but more will help a new player than not.

Great questions by the way!

i have not read all the posts yet, but two things:
1. If someone in chat uses vulgar language, click on their name and a choice is "Report". Of you click that you can say why you are reporting, like vulgar language, etc, and it sends a screen shot of the chat.
2. If you shoot down a team mate, ALWAYS say you are Sorry! Without that, they may assume it was on purpose.

This is a great game with a terrific community! (almost) all players are friends!

Steve, I so sorry you encountered that. Most players are very respectful as well as respected. I hate hearing that.
