Mrs. Manfred is cast from the same mold. She can't smell, and she is immune to obnoxiousness. But she is also Queen of Guilt. No hobbies that take away from time with the kiddies, unless the kiddies are interested in it. The 10 year old wants to play Dogfight, but ironically, I won't let her play until a lot of the bad language and player names gets under control. Soon, soon.

Jacob Here is the UMx cub you were asking about...I put the cub on floats.....this cub is set up to tow the glider displayed. The cub and glider are sold seperately but they are both set up to be towed..I can't wait to try it..... The cub has aileron's, flap's, rudder, elevator and speed control...I will let you know how they fly as soon as the weather permit's....
Go to youtube and check out some of the video's....

that one hasn't been flown yet. But I have lot's of water landing's and takeoff's with this one.. :)

This is an Icon A5. This is an actual sport plane that you can purchase...It is an amphibious aircraft meaning it has landing gear also. In the real world you can purchase many option's on this aircraft.....I want one of these in the worst way...This is My dream plane....

look up Icon A5 on google or Youtube....It's a beautiful aircraft.

I love watching that stuff Paul....He has a reversible pitch prop installed on that plane...
Here is a plane that I practice those maneuver's with. I'm just not as good and don't have a reversible pitch prop installed....I love making the plane dance.....

Hey jacob10000 if you see this, I got to thinking this is a plane you should look at ..... very 3d capable...very slow and stable. You can hover, rolling circles, Knife edges, waterfalls you name it..works very well in tight spaces...

Hey Dent, here's a couple of pics of the new plane! My four yr old has been super resistant to the notion of using the potty on a regular basis. I decided to use his love of airplanes against him (thats some good parenting);) We got a Hobbyzone Champ RTF. It came with a four channel 2.4Ghz transmitter and everything else we needed to get started. The kids been on the potty four times today!! :woohoo: It cost $80 plus tax and we got it at a local shop thats been around for like a hundred years..lol I like to support the mom&pops. What my wife doesn't realize is I've just opened the door for me to pick up a new hobby :P The best part will be sharing it with my son! Thanks again for the thread and help!!

Hey Jimbo,

Niiice positioning. Your poor wife.

Funny, child bribery is generally badness, but toys-for-potty is almost universally accepted as yielding success AND normal children. Worked for us! Wait... my kids aren't that normal. May be a bad data point.

Hey Jimbo that should work perfect for learning...and a good price....Let me know how your coming along...
You might want to get some glue and tape also...I keep lots on hand.. :) If your hobby store doesn't have a part you happen to demolish, they or yourself can order it online...Part's are available for that plane.

Oh and Mrs Dent gave up on my potty training and just gave me the plane's.....I'd get to excited and have an accident anyway's.... :cheer: :woohoo:

If you need any help PM or post here...Posting here would probably be the best as other people like Manfred can chime in...Like I said....I'm no expert and Manfred is way better at this typing and wordy thingy.... :)

Thanks for the Pic Jimbo.

I'm just gonna quote this and move it forward again Jacob. You allready have flying experience. I think you'd enjoy this plane....check it out on youtube....I haven't had a chance to try the cub out yet....We have some nasty wind advisories going on....no flying yet...

Dent:

Can you direct me to a good R/C forum - thanks to you, my old interest in R/C has been rekindled.

I've had fun looking at the hobby stores you mentioned, starting with ParkFlyers - after doing the rounds of possibilities of planes I was drawn to the Wing Dragon 500 - both from it's flight videos and specs. Not a small or semi-scale plane like many you fly but one that looks like I could fly it with some wind and has relatively slow speeds and nice control and should be fine for a 're-beginner' (been 30+ years since I flew my 40 powered Little Stick). It's 55" ws might help me keep it both in view and oriented in flight too.

I've also looked at getting a simulator to help me acclimate so my first flight is not too dramatic. Can't really fly here now for a few months.

Thanks!

David

There is a pretty good free r/c simulator that is called FMS. There are many user-made add-on planes, with a little practice and some German translation you can adjust the phisics of each plane.

I have an older Simulator That I used for learning to fly Heli's. I haven't used it in some time but I got to the point I started using it to fly the plane's to. The nice thing was I plugged my Transmitter into the computer or laptop and used the same transmitter I use on my real plane's...
Jacob is correct, You can change all flight characteristic's of a plane or heli on a decent simulator. Example's are changing CG and control throw's (travel)
My simulator is Aerofly Professional. The plane's fly just like the real RC one's...I had some of the model's the simulator has..It was pretty neat how the feel of flying and landing the plane's was just like the real one's....Just cheaper on the simulator when crashing... :)
I got my simulator from Hobby-Lobby. Dont forget the - or you'll end up at a craft site not RC.
some other Good one's
Horizon Hobby
Tower Hobbies
Hobby-lobby
Wholesaletrains- This is my local hobby store. I've never had any issues with them.
simulator's are excellent for learning and when the weather's bad.

Hey IQQI, I just did a quick search on the Wing dragon 500. It looks like a good choice and part's seem to be easily avialable. The thing I really like is the camera option....I fly Alot of camera's and it's alot of fun to watch the video or look at the pictures, give's you the feeling of really flying...Great fun...
You getting the camera...?
Check out Hobby-Lobby also they have plane's that are along the same line as that...there's lot's of choices out there..
Just make sure Part's are readily avialable....I've got a couple of plane's that I can't find parts for any more....Nice thing is Foam Glue's easily... :) :)

Try RC Groups forum Then go from there iQQi.

Jacob, I still Haven't had a chance to try out the cub yet, SRY....I'll let ya know when I do...I haven't forgotten.

The camera option attracted me too and I'll probably get that option or add one. - I did find a Wing Dragon 500 without the camera at BananaHobby, they also have a nice looking plane that caught my eye, the 4 CH Freewing Flight Design RC Trainer - maybe too unique to get parts however. I did see find some negative comments on BH too.

I did order the Real Flight simulator, basic version - It comes with a transmitter that is like one you would use - looking forward to it.

Thanks for the tips and advice!

Hey Muck and Everyone else. I thougt people might be interested in this. These are not that expensive.

check out flyzone. They make a micro Albatross, Nieuport, Se5a and Fokker triplane. I have 3 of the 4. They are all easy to fly and parts are easy to get.

These are all plane's in the game. You can fly these almost anywhere.

There is a 6 inch ruler in the picter's for reference to size... They fly excellent.

I have posted these before. They are pretty basic with lots of scale look and easy to fly.

Any videos you can post on any of them flying?

They really grab your attention - which is the best flyer between the three?

I don't have any video's. It's a little to cold here to fly, I might try so Mrs dent can get some flight Pictures.

You'll have to do a google search or a Youtube search iQQi. There are many video's of these plane's online.
They all have their qualities....They are all very easy to fly. They are Rudder, Elevator and Throttle control...
Best flyer between the 3? That's tough. I like them all... I think the Fokker and Nieuport look the best in the air. The Albatross is a bit faster (less drag) but still slow's to a crawl...
The neat thing is when they are silhouetted against the sky you get the feel of seeing the real thing in the air...
I believe these are right around $100 (US). The Fokker and Albatross may be cheaper as they came out first...the Nieuport and Se5a are probably at or above.
