Sput, on the left, is sporting the prodigy model. It has a one megajoule laser pulse and delivers roughly the same energy as 200 grams of high explosive, with the same basic effect on a target. The primary damage mechanism is mechanical shear, caused by reaction when the surface of the target is explosively evaporated. Set on low it can also be used, in a pinch, to bake Cake.

Wig (right) has the full-featured senior version. It is a gas dynamic laser (GDL), based on differences in relaxation velocities of molecular vibrational states. It has high energy efficiency (as high as 30%) and very high power output for military applications.
