First and foremost, even in “real” war there are rules. Do you have to follow them? No, of course not; however, the results often escalate into crimes against humanity. For example, Country A is at war with Country B. Country B, for whatever reason, kills a few prisoners of war. Country A hears about this and doesn’t like it, and so kills a few of Country B’s prisoners of war – I think you get the point – quid pro quo and this is going to get ugly fast. And, just because someone else does it, does not make it right.
Now back to the reality of the unreality of the WWI Dogfight simulation game and the question, “is it legal to spawn kill”. And I can tell you, after “extensive research” that no one has ever been arrested for spawn killing – sleep well tonight. However, after reading some of the posts, namely the one from Slenderman, it appears to be a rule, albeit loosely defined due to the nature of the game and the tactics that pilots use to ensure victory; but none the less, a rule. Some of you, like me, just don’t do it; end of story. Others however, have blatant disregard of the rule and conduct wanton, willful spawnkilling until their hearts content; to which the rule states that another pilot can destroy your plane or tank or the ”Rambo Class” parachute soldier. There’s nothing that can really stop this except self policing by other pilots. I don’t like doing this but I’ve done this to spawnkillers on the other team and my own team as well. It’s not a good feeling for me when I do this but it’s a rule. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong here.
Anyway, what this leaves is the rest of the pilots that reside somewhere in the middle of the spectrum between “will never spawnkill” to “spawnkill all the time”. And I think this is the group that needs to make up their minds because I don’t really think a “spawnkiller” is going to wake up one day and say, “You know, that ole’ Black Flag got it right and this is the day I stop spawnkilling” nor do I think a “non-spawnkiller” is going to go on a mental rampage. So my question to that group is, “How many spawnkills does it take to make you a spawnkiller? And at what point does it become a spawnkill – as long as their wheels are on the ground?” This is just something to think about, I really don’t expect any replies on this. Maybe someone can open another thread on this one.
Finally, at the end of the day, I hope I changed at least one pilots mind on this topic; but if I didn’t that’s ok too. I do enjoy the game and flying with and fighting against all the pilots “non-spawn killers” and “spawnkillers” alike and all those in the middle. And I know everyone is playing the game that’s the most enjoyable for them; except that enjoyment by some is at the detriment of others.
